STAHRA

St. Thomas Aquinas Homeschoolers of the Rochester Area is a group of over 60 families in Upstate New York who support each other in this Catholic Homeschooling  journey.

This group has been in existence since 1992, and some of the original members are still here, happy to help “newbies” as you embark on this adventure.

Whether you are new to homeschooling or new to New York, you are welcome here.

Our official mission statement:

To provide information, experiences, and a supportive community for Catholic families who choose to educate their children at home.  St. Thomas Aquinas Homeschoolers of the Rochester Area has as its foundation and as the guiding principle of all its function and activities, fidelity to the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church.

The families of STAHRA share some common goals relative to the education of their children in today’s world:

• Faith Formation – to raise our children in the Christian faith, taught in accordance with the authority that rests with the Magisterium of the Catholic Church.
• Socialization – to train our children in the proper means of carrying on relationships within society based upon Catholic moral principals.
• Academics – to teach our children based upon proven methods and techniques and using a syllabus that includes Christian values as a part of the subject matter.

HOW TO JOIN

We welcome your membership and involvement! Our annual dues of $35* is used to cover the costs of group liability insurance, mailings, reservation of park shelters, paper goods and coffee supplies, diplomas & corsages for graduation, stipends for our priest chaplains, and other related group expenses.
